winnie - you are jumping to conclusions. I have the answer to No.11 and was merely giving a hint to felicity who had asked about it so no need for me to spell out the whole question to her.

Winnie:
11 - start with Beethoven's only opera and selectively reduce it to 4 letters.
65 - the answer appears in another clue.

Could anyone please offer me a hint for my last - number 18. It must be dog-related but the only thing I can come up with at the moment is Kennelmaid which to my mind doesn't tick all of the boxes. Thanks.

Thanks ab - this was suggested earlier, but I don't think it kennelmaid. There is not an anagram of danes in it , there is aid (help) but I can't see the rest of it. I'm puzzled !

Danes does not need to be an anagram......... it could be as in Great Danes??? I asked, Winnie, because I had 18 but obviously not 28. Any help with 19? I've gone through Roget and cannot find a synonym for strike that could mean tiger.
