A very Happy, Peaceful & Healthy New Year to all RT crossword puzzlers.
Found this weeks crossword fairly easy but 6d is proving troublesome 'Bubble over fine novelist' - I have *r*t* - help appreciated

Hi devonian
Happy New Year
I would complain to Portnoy about the obscurity of the novelist, if I were you.

Happy New Year to all. Never did receive my Christmas RT so glad to start the new year. The writer I hadn't heard of either appears to be American. Had to look him up.

Everyone seems to have found this easy, but I`m still stuck on the bottom RH corner.
`Quiet learner about to tear up contract`:
?H ???E? / UP. The H is only right if 18D is `Bothy` Mags.

You've made me look at that again, mags, and my original parsing no longer seems to work - although my answer does fit the definition. If it's correct, the clue is a bit weak as the answer also contains "up".
(Clue: I originally thought it was something to do with Kevin, who we might need to discuss)

Sorry - "whom" not "who" (before rambler reads it)

I agree - Apart from the inclusion of up in the clue the remainder parses okay
