Well, I think I've finished but still a bit vague on some wordplay with this one this week, could someone please enlighten me on 2 clues that in part still escape me in the parse department.

3d) Woman taking mini perhaps rejected stuff showing tears at edges (8) M-T-R-S-

I think this must be Motorist, having Moist (tears at edges) around rot (reversed) but is 'rejected' being used twice for 'rejected stuff' = Rot and - being rejected (sent back) as a sort of part &lit
Also do you feel that 'Woman in mini' is an attempt at misdirection (miniskirt) or is the setter just being non-sexist?

15d) Illness old police chief contracted on two occasions (8) -E-I-E-I

I think this is Beriberi (illness) / Beri being repeated (two occasions)
But who is the 'police chief contracted' . maybe the name of a police chief shortened but I've no idea.

Thanks, Les40

Beria contracted is Beri (twice)

Thankyou mamya,

I have a keen interest in the history of the 2nd World War and have watched many World at War episodes, however, I've never heard of Mr Beria and thankyou immensely for your brilliant act of edification

Think you're spot on Les. Woman in mini is a distraction, stuff is in Chambers as "something that is thought of as stupid, worthless" (as in stuff and nonsense) so is perhaps equivalent to "rot" without the double use of "rejected"?

Cheers AB, It seems like that's it then. Some of the wordplay was really testing this week with some well crafted clues, it's just that that one seemed a little tenuous.
Thanks again mate.
