60 Getting muddled here.....have got the word, know what it means but can't get it to fit unless I pluralise it which doesn't seem correct. What am I missing here?

I need to go back to bed, am embarrassed by trying to be too clever and not realise that the answer was right there in the word I had worked out. Sorry everyone! Onward and upward from now I hope.

Thanks Winnie. 9 is an anagram. Took me ages to find it but it's there.

I think there is a fairly subtle answer for 84, cleverly reflecting Garbo.
Did we ever get to a definitive view on twinkle / twinkie for 30?
Is 40 an anagram? If so I can't see it!

Gandolf 34 - Indeed, an anagram, (4, "and" 5) as you suggest. Think of an English poet, whose surname is the same as a type of bottled product formerly used to colour gravy! If that doesn't help, come back again and I will expand the matter. Your hint re my one missing answer (84) still doesn't ring any bells - is the "reflected" word especially relevant?

Thanks, Dougglos - now got it and the reference - pretty obscure!
For 84, my theory is that you need to dissect Garbo like a crossword clue to give the answer

Gandolf34 - re 30 - "Bimbo" was the American version of our "Twinkle" magazine, and starts to "Taking Over El Salvador" gives T,O,E,S.
Still cannot pick up your hint for 84 - when you say dissect as in a crossword, I can only assume you meant via the anagram trail, but all the suggestions of anagrams for Garbo came to naught!

Nor me dougglos, just can't crack it. Got 10, so easy I blush for my enquiry! I have also tried anagrams of heavens above and peers pouring, still no luck.
