I'd got the TOES bit (from first letters), but still unhappy about the TWINKLE. The bimbo is TWINKIE. Very unlike Rainbow not to be spot on with a clue.

OK - must buy 10th edition. Mine is out of date. EVE is an actor.

Great to have the quiz again but finding it hard - about 70 so far. About 30 Twinkletoes does fulfil the first part of the question perfectly and the toes is the beginning of the last 4 words hence starts. Just going to look up actors as I was stuck on 18.

Of course Bill, now I see what you meant. Still very odd though about the fact that it should be twinkie. Oh well, plenty more to struggle with for the next few weeks.

Like Nonplussed, I'm not happy about no.30. Is there, I wonder, a dictionary giving either a)TWINKLE as an alternative to TWINKIE as the American bimbo, or b) TWINKIETOES as an alternative to TWINKLETOES. If not, I'm stumped!

Bill I don't have the copy of Chambers which they use but I go to the local reference library to seek help. I'll do that tomorrow if I have time and see what their many dictionaries tell me. No that it's the only one I need by a long shot!

If so I can't find a jewellery connection.

Winnie....My answers to 16 and 26 don't begin with either of what you're thinking of although mine may not be correct. As for Greta Garbo, I can only think of her but have no idea at all so far, think it must be one of their really clever ones.
