Hi ixion - not sure if you're declining to help or trying to give me a hint - if the latter, I don't get it :-/

It's a rather indirect hint Mrs T, the "wisher" clue is referred to earlier in the thread.

Thanks ixion, I must be having a stupid day as I'm still not there. Is it anything to do with a former mayor?

You're looking for a poet Mrs T, often featuring in Xwords as an (indirect) anag for bogs.

Ah! I've got the poet so I'll take it from there. Thanks so much for your help and patience!

Nemesis: looking for the wordplay in 17A. "fed" is not a verb.

I'm over 1/4 way through this but it's like wading through treacle and I don't know why, because when I get an answer it seems OK.

Not enjoying it, anyway - not enough 'aha!' moments for me.

I got the poet early on but can't see how he helps matters.

Is 21D/21U a herb? If it is, I'm wrong about 25A/25B: I thought the second part showed Picaroon to be a Geordie! And if it is a herb, I can't see why from the itty-bitty bits of the clue (what d'you call the bits that aren't the definition?).
