According to an on-line thesaurus "can" can mean a bottom/butt/derrière...must be American.

Maybe Mr A "can" advise...

I can indeed advise. The word was used by the evil ixion recently and he had to hint that it was an Americanism. It's so common here that it didn't even occur to me at the time. Used in comments like "Check out the can on that one" and "Get your can over here", it betrays just how poetic a people we are.
