Got to this late- a bit trickier than last week's, I thought. Don't see any reference to it here, so I must be in the minority. Finished but with three questions.
12a: Strangeness in e.g. Congo making one bewildered (5, 2 words) I have AT SEA but don't see the wordplay.
31a: Opera the French love on being denied heaven! (6) RIENZI, ditto.
33a: Church about right, one responsible for leader showing faith (5) CREED, ditto.

12ac: Congo is a type of tea. Strangeness = s (a physics term, apparently). I'm sure you can work out the rest.

Thanks, tonyw, AB, and peterm! Feeling a bit dense. Got the CE and R, but not ED! Thought in terms of French amour rather than rien (I think "on being denied heaven" is very good). Didn't think of Congo as a tea, obviously, and thank you for having such faith in me, peterm- in assuming that I could clear the hurdle now.
