The first one is SLIPSTREAM

SLIP is mistake followed by an anagram of MASTER

The last one is PARASITIC

Soldiers are PARAS followed by object (IT) and in charge (IC)

Do those two solutions give you any more letters in the middle one?

The first word is almost certainly STRING (which is a series) but I amstruggling with the second word.
