I, too, thought this week's was easy, but having said that I'm stuck on 17d, despite all the cryptic clues abounding....
PLEASE, can anyone put it in simple terms for this doofus????

Cheers, Jazzgirl - It's my Latin that was incorrect [25a]!! I put a 'u' instead of an 'a' - although I did google it but failed to read it through.....

Thanks for the help with 17d. I made the same mistake as Chris4food with 23a.
A gentle hint on 8A would be greatly appreciated.

I got 8a. My 6d is wrong.

Yes, very easy this week. 10a brought a smile; 8a took longer to twig than it should have done.

I'm left with 24a, which I presume is a word beginning with W and ending with H which means fury. If that's right, who's the old Holmes actor and why "not half"?
