I think that 32a is two one word answers. There are three two word answers at 4d,7d and 18a. one of these is hypenenated,but which one.

Agree with all those peterm - I think that Doc probably thought that the first bit of 7d might be hyphenated but it's not.

Not sure what scarlett is agreeing with so I'll repeat that there are only three two word answers. 32a is two one word answers.

Understood phillip. The preamble is ambiguous in that it talks of 10 "theme words in total". It should be 10 themed answers.

Actually, 1D & 38A weren't hard, but some of the unclued were, as they aren't produced in NA.
Other than the ambiguity at 22D (Doc's trademark), all done except for 32A, which gives a total of nine.

Just realized what the end of 32A is. Thought the whole thing was (something) BARS.
Now see it's a separate item, leaving T?I?L.

No idea.

Never mind.

Just got it.

Now back to mulling over 22D.

Call me thick or indecisive but I still can't decide on 22down! What's the consensus of opinion?

I don't know whether I'm missing something, but according to my Chambers there's only one word that fits and can mean both split and shoulder, and it ends with L.
