I thought chopsticks would give lots of options, but maybe in retrospect I should have gone for something else on the short list.

ixion - you've embarrassed me again. I'm afraid I didn't get your clue. Billies? I know when you've given me explanations in the past, I've ended up kicking myself. Could you put my mind at rest?

It's a jokey one peterm - billy=truncheon, therefore in my warped mind a cop-stick

my thread came out incomplete, dont know why.
I wanted to say that I did not realize the significance of WALTZ until peterm explained.
I thought many good entries this time.

Just curious. We always call them billy clubs. What do you call them over there?

Thank you all for the congratulations - I am seriously chuffed to have won this week. Strangely, the last thing I had done before reading this week's CLUELESS was to comment on my daughter's Facebook status where she had posted that she'd just eaten a meal with chopsticks!!! Will open my prize soon - Mrs. Jamoza (not her real name) is calling me to the dining table.

Thanks, ixion. We use the word truncheon, of course, but I think it's often for any old cudgel. When a cop's carrying it I think it's always a billy club.
