If you had a euro for every anagrammatic opportunity this word affords you could bail out Greece. Still, it requires inspiration to integrate an anagram, and we have some inspired integrations here. Among them are HelenB’s “Cleo punished, put in labyrinthine prison”, jamoza’s masterful “RIP. Console agitated mourners here.”, and of course therogue’s “prince’s loo flushed”. However, some of the nicest touches are in the definitions. We have jws’s “stiff centre”, ixion’s “for lifeless clientele”, and my favorite, Lionheart’s “late home”. In the terseness department we have jws’s jewel, “London Railway to a dead end.” Oh, and I mustn’t neglect to commend paul for his wonderful juxtaposition of graveyard and shift.

But Good Lord, I’ve been tempted by the Page One Devil (it doesn’t ALWAYS happen, THEA; I didn’t succumb last time!), and I’m going with Chips’s “Cripes, loon is misbehaving in God’s Acre.” I’d like it even better with an exclamation point replacing the comma, but I love the use of a blasphemy to bring attention to a blasphemy. Understatedly satisfying.

Here’s your prize, Chips- a spell in the crypt with Cyd (Oh! Fred’s in it too?).

See you next week, everyone. You guys are brilliant- and so funny.

Some brilliantly grisly clues this week! Congrats to Chips for a corker and to Aristophanes for an excellent choice of word :)
