You don’t need to know about the aubergine emoji to solve the clue, chrise - it just makes for an amusing surface if you do.
Aubergine and emoji are separate parts of the parsing, which is 5,1,1,1

12 emoji just gives one letter as do the next two words.
5d is an anagram of one word and two letters (see my earlier post regarding which two letters but if you have 4a don’t worry).
6d Thom Yorke is the lead singer of Radiohead which has absolutely nothing to do with the clue. The clue parses 3,1,4,1 where the first two bits are a reversal.
22 9 relates to the nato alphabet.

5d is what I suppose might be called a partial anagram of the non-god fodder. Not the first god you might think of from the letter count if you have the first and third letters.

Thanks also jono. Things are not yet becoming clear (except the last letter of 22, which I had missed). I'll look again at your earlier hints.

All done now. I'm a bit smug about parsing 3d, so I'm a bit surprised there haven't been requests on that one.

Re 4d: the rest of the solution after the reversal is another ‘partial anagram’

Sorry, chrise: didn’t see that you’d finished 5 minutes before my latest hint!
I couldn’t parse 3d at first, though I had the only possible answer. Then a tiny bell rang in my brain and I too felt a bit smug!

All done apart from 16a. I should be able to get it being four letters and two crossers in but a little hint would help.
