This was extremely difficult (not unexpected given the setter), but in the end, one way or another, it works out. And the 2 works revealed are among my all-time favorites, and what are the odds of that?

Is there any way to determine which grid is left and which is right?

It does not appear to matter (I think that's what "one way or another" means).

Very long and inelegant clue for a 7 letter solution....

Not a puzzle I’ve done, but assuming it’s a straight cryptic, base is first letter, and then what Noah would do if he had to prepare for a battle. Last bit is the definition
