Brendan, maybe I guessed wrong, but US usage has a hyphen between the 2nd and 3d letters. I've shopped at the "High Falls Food 15" (with hyphen).

Yes, you're right and there is a hyphen. I think the crossed-wires arose because here in the UK 15 is, or was, a brand name specific to that shop, where as Google has just informed be that it is used in the US, but in a more 'type of business' sense rather than a brand name.

A difficult Vlad crossword, especially for those outside the UK, with a couple of entries being guessed rather than parsed.

For my part, it took two attempts. However, once 1ac was worked out from the crossing letters, the rest of the puzzle fell into place.

Dalibor in Indy - perhaps his last; as tough as Vlad's; themed. Superb. Don't miss 11a.

Like Geeker I found this to be a game of two halves, with the bottom half proving a little trickier. All in all though, a stronger prize offering than last week.

I’m not convinced by the definition in 14d (which curiously took me to the same page in Chambers I was forced to visit earlier this week).
