1a - 5 letter "paramilitary" (specific one) around "is" from the clue - the definition is "rider" in the contract sense.

7d - anagram of word on clue plus one letter abbreviation, also from clue - definition is "extent"

8d - 1, then 3 letter "fling" then 6 letter "primate" minus 2 letter "work" - definition is "messy"

Sorry, forgot the laast one..

13a - 3 letter "support for chef" (think cooking appliance" then usual 1 letter "round" - definition is "bum" (though not in the anatomical sense)

13ac. Three letter word for where a chef might place a pan plus a letter meaning round = bum as in tramp
