I’m not sure how to interpret/work some of these clues, and the puzzles seems overly complex for a Monday.

1a Church at rear of Newcastle United`’s ground (6)

I think CH * * * * nut I don’t know how to arrive at the last 4 letters, if anyone can give me a gentle nudge please?

10a Crew on capsized craft chant (6)

I have no idea where to go with this clue!

1a 2 letter church + 1 letter rear of newcastle + 3 letter united (in marriage?) = ground (by biting maybe)

10a 3 letter crew + 3 letter craft (reversed) = chant (or a sacred text)
