Nice puzzle, with a good representation of the work. Some quirky clues, not all of which I'm entirely happy with (7d, for example).

I enjoyed the PDM re the work, which did rather unlock most of the secrets.

Struggling (as usual) with the end game. I have "A" and "B" and two definite contenders for "C", but I have no idea what 5 cells constitute the hidden feature. A gentle nudge would be appreciated.

Another puzzle where the difficulty of the end-game is disproportionate to that of the gridfill. I've a vague memory of attempting the subject matter many years ago and being sent to sleep pretty quickly.

This subject was the theme of a Spectator puzzle by Columbia in May 2018.

Thanks Jbird54, Quisling and Dunbar for trying to help me with 17 across. I still don't get it, but I don't think it matters.

I've ground to a halt, I have filled NW and SE.
So tips for 5a and 25d would be very welcome, to get me restarted on my other quarters!
Guessing the definitions are drooping part, and hairy?

5a Definition is 'drooping', the word play is 2 (abbreviation) + 2 surrounding 2 for mouth.
25d The definition is the first 3 words, the wordplay is a synonym for range round an abbreviation.
Neither is a common word.
