Buddy, thanks. I enjoyed the puzzle. I felt there were a few overly-easy clues,but some of the trickier ones were quite tricksy! I liked 8 A and 23 D.

I revealed 17a. Very clever!

It took a while to see how 'chronic' and 'confirmed' are synonyms, but I eventually did. I was also very surprised to find that 'to drive into a tree' and 'to corner' is in Chambers.

COD is 23d closely followed by 14a - excellent:-)

I meant to say that "to tree" and "to corner" are verbs in the hunting sense.

Very nice, Buddy. I would add 22a to the list of favourites already mentioned and note your avoidance of Herbert Beerbohm (who I would have been tempted by!).
