May I please have some parsing help on 27 across: “observe bending lines have briefly erased line made by rule”?

Bathmatters, 27a. def. is 'line made by rule'. 'Observe!' (2) + 'bending lines' (6), extracting an abbreviation for 'have'... with an extra letter, of course.
