I have the quotation and the four letter word down from the top row. However, with regard to the down clues message, I have the first word and then some letters that don’t seem to make sense- is it all normal words?

All done, with support from mrs Dylan, even the thematic clues. Very neat, sage!

It has taken me nearly 24 hours to sort out the four thematic clues. I was convinced that greater use of one letter in some clues than is the norm might come into play. And then I tried not to overthink it and it fell into place.

I found this tougher than some it appears - I thought it was moderately tricky. No parsing loose ends which makes a nice change.

The endgame was just the right length (ie very quick) and produced a relatively decent picture. Very solid first effort all round.

All done, but I can’t fully parse 20D. 3 of 4 letters cross-check and I can only find one word that fits. I also know what the corrected misprint letter must be, but none of the places I could use it yield a satisfactory clue to fit the entry.

GWUK, in 20d. two single letters 'gobble' (swallow) another word in the clue.
The first letter is an abbreviation of a 'weight' which comes from the altered word.

Struggling to finish.
Haven't sorted 1a yet. Two uncheckeds are my only empty cells.
But like others, I can't see the middle of the downs message, I have first word and last word....help with parsing 18/19d would be lovely!??

lumen -- 18 & 19d were among the last ones I parsed. The corrections occur in the first and third words respectively. Those corrections are the same in both clues.
