Fairly straightforward, as we have become accustomed to by this quartet. And a not too esoteric theme.

I lived in B— as a student and I still needed a reference source… no doubt Mr Pennington would disapprove.

Of course, Mr Pennington would never see these comments - what need has he for a crosssword help forum?!

Nice and straightforward for me except 30D:
“Somewhat sought after clubhouses? (6)”

It helps that only one letter goes unchecked, ie: V _ L L A S
so obvious what this must be - is it just a double definition?

One letter from sought after a football team (club). Definition is houses.

I think there might have been an indication that 21D was not a single word. But anyway I've got there!
