Thank you to the 12 competitors who contributed this week.
The usual mechanisms employed included partial and subtractive anagrams, inclusions, forward and reverse, acrostics and, of course, inventive word play.
I especially liked Jono’s rat (singer) at 2, Raffles’ knotted cravat at 4, Poulet”s acrostic at 8, Swarbrules’ use of Ava Gardner and blue at 10, the wordplay at 15 by JanvanSlk – welcome to the Forum, Paul’s verbal renderings at 19/20 and 21 and his vagrant at 26. Also liked Darla’s neat wordplay at 23 and Geeker’s working of La Traviata @ 29. Not forgetting Aristophanes warm hearts at 30.
Amongst the many excellent clues, one particularly stood out, both for the word play, and the final punch line:
Jono’s clue at 22
A singer making comeback after a very blue movie (6)
Well done Jono.
