I can't get 12d. I have L beginning the first word and N second in second word. Is there a knight involved?

Ethereal, that's a very British (well, very English) answer! It's a bit like the Miami Dolphins or ... San Diego Flyers (I made that one up).

The first one is a northern city, the second word is ... all together.
