Thank you all for competing in WPR this week. 12 entrants, all receiving votes, and the vast majority of clues got at least one vote.

With 5 votes apiece are Amej @13 and Geting @16.

In first place, with 6, is a 3-way tie between Poulet @22, Paul @26, and Geeker @35. I’ve chosen my favourite, which also got one double vote from Aristo, as Paul @26. I enjoyed the sound wordplay and convincing definition (which I hadn’t known beforehand).

Well done Paul!

Gone on date with the French poser (6)

Thanks again to all for competing.
Will

The prize today is an episode of TV, and the puzzle which goes along with it, courtesy of Steve Pemberton. I’m sure some will have already seen this, but I think the show is excellent (the puzzle not so much).

The episode - S3:E3 (it does get somewhat morbid)

Congrats paul and thanks wil. I liked this one too, but had a question mark over whether the tenses (gone/rid) matched.

Thanks for more votes than I've had for some time!

Congrats Paul and thanks Wil.

Thanks for votes, Swarb, Jon, PR, and Aristo for the double (I thought it was a killer clue!).

Chambers gives gone as “to be finished or done away with” , hence “rid (of)”, so I think it’s ok.
“On” in the clue suggests a down clue, also fine.

Congrats Paul, thanks Wil and thanks to Aristo for a solid 2 and PR, Swarbs, Paul, Geeker, Tyke, Amej for other votes.

Well done Paul.
Thanks Wil.
The episode was absolutely brilliant, wonderfully dark.

Votes appreciated. I thought middle earth was maybe a bit too way out to attract many votes.
