Surprised to be the one to start the thread 2 weeks in a row but I have 3 answers that I am certain are correct but I just can’t parse!

23d Maybe real prevalence (8)
I have CURRENCY (prevalence) but the cryptic bit?

47d This increase could cause tantrums (4,2)
Must be STEP UP (increase) but why?

49a Army officer appointed bishop, gradual development. Political earthquake (7,10)
Must be OCTOBER REVOLUTION with EVOLUTION being gradual development. But the rest has baffled me!

Apologies if I’ve overshared on a prize crossword. I never enter but I do enjoy them!

Thanks all!

Should have thought about REAL as a currency! I was in Brazil in January!🤦‍♂️

I’d forgotten all about RR = bishop

And STEP UP I can grudgingly see now 🙁

I had 47d as wind up. I actually prefer that answer.

AnthonyStMichel, I liked your Wind Up initially, then realised it works for only half the clue (and it doesn't fit with the crossing letters anyway).

I meant to say that I thought that OCTOBER REVOLUTION was rather a neat clue!

Finally I ground this one out. Setter and I just not on the same wavelength.

6a With endless savagery, Victor rubbished Einstein's idea (7,5)

The answer does not match the definition. Gravity Waves happen on Earth in fluid dynamics. Einstein's idea was Gravitational Waves, which are caused by the movement of massive objects in the Universe, travel at the speed of light, and warp space-time. A world of difference. A bit like the planet The Times setters live on these days.

Bobdown, the answer matches the definition in Chambers - and if Chambers is wrong, I don't feel the setter is to blame for the inaccuracy of the clue. There's only a certain amount of confirming that I'd want setters - in general - to do.
