(Filbert)

Perhaps not of independent interest, but...
My FOI happened to be a shockingly Pauline clue (apologies to Paul).

9 Robust seat at the front, like a stool? (6)

Eek.

I'm sorry, I quite like that one! It's good to be disconcerted, and then feel rather childish.

After that opening shock, it was a challenging and most excellent puzzle.

I know little about Filbert, as the Indy features so many setters I can't keep up with the roster, but he definitely deserves attention!

Filbert is Guy in the FT. I also enjoyed the clue.

Thanks, jono.
Guy sometimes features in the FT Saturday evening (US time, same as Grauniad Prize) slot. I've enjoyed his puzzles there. His Filbert/Indy offerings seem more difficult.

I generally go for off-colour/smutty clues, so don't know why this one struck a wrong note. 😀
