25a Broken Ford next to drive (5)
Looks like 'kaput', but if t = Ford, how is 'kapu' parsed?

Ka is a Ford model, and 'put' could be drive?

Thanks mattrom, that might be it, though 'drive' seems so much more active than 'put' that they seem (to me) barely synonymous.

Chambers has 'drive' specifically mentioned under Put, so it seems to be enough of a synonym. The wording is '....to drive; to impel; to convey...'

Thanks, Quisling. It definitely seemed valid, reasonable to me, but I like confirmation from any and all sources!
