The uncertainty as to which letters were placed in the central squares made this quite difficult, I thought.
I have one loose end, clue 11. Needing both hands, princess disposes of cordials. (9)
I have an answer meaning 'cordials' which fits the grid, but can't see the parsing.

Hi Matttom,

4 letter (Indian) "princess" minus it's first letter. (abbr. for one of our hands) then 7 letter "disposes of" as one do to make a court case go away, again minus a letter but this the abbreviation for the other hand.

Ah, thanks, Brendan! I was also unfamiliar with the 'pattern', until I had enough entries to Google it.
I appreciate the effort that setters must put in to construct something like this.

I need help with 22 to try to complete the grid and would appreciate any help.

22 Comission fees paid for King Charles' neckwear? 9 letters

Absolutely stuck on this.

Thanks in advance for any help.

(I'm not making much of the endgame either, but it would be nice to have a completed grid.)

Fred, 22 def. is the first 3 words. Parses as 5,4.
How you could describe King Charles (kingly, perhaps) + what men may wear around their necks.

Thank you.
Why did I not see that?
Don't answer that!
Kicking my self has begun.

Cheers.

To my utter astonishment I seem to have completed the grid + endgame.

Thank you for your help.

I am off to lie down in a darkened room......
