Only just started, but my second clue has one of the strangest anagram indicators I've seen!

Aunt chose to unearth shrub (9)

Ceanothus?

Yes wil, but does "unearth" mean "make an anagram"?

I think there's an endless search among setters to extend the ways of indicating - but not too clearly - the devices (including anagrams) used in clue construction. This one was a bit "unusual", I agree.
