Only just started, but my second clue has one of the strangest anagram indicators I've seen!

Aunt chose to unearth shrub (9)

Yes wil, but does "unearth" mean "make an anagram"?

I think there's an endless search among setters to extend the ways of indicating - but not too clearly - the devices (including anagrams) used in clue construction. This one was a bit "unusual", I agree.

Another one that puzzles me in RT28 in terms of "connections is 5D: Asian Dagger to fold, they say

From interconnecting answers which gives: blank,R, blank S there appears to be only one answer which is KRIS. This is an Asian Dagger but I cannot work out how the clues get you there

Thanks

I was thrown by that one, but I suspect that KRIS is pronounced "crease", hence "fold".

Thanks. Based on a YouTube video it does sound like "crease" as the "i" becomes a sort of "e" which is largely "glossed over " in pronunciation. What threw me was that other sources which I checked suggest (wrongly it appears) that it sounds like "keris" as in the Welsh "Cerys"
