Completed grid, have located the (six letter) phrase but don't know how to change five letters. Any clues?

DSC, you just change that phrase to give a six-letter (thematic word), a very common one. One letter remains the same.

Fred, look for the last 6 letters of the quotation elsewhere in the grid.
