Awful and unsatisfying puzzle today. Too many poor clues. Too many groans at the answers. Too many trips to fill in the missing gaps and DanWord to check we had the correct answer!

You can certainly contend it's too hard for the Everyman slot but it's not "awful", the clueing is pretty good.

Well I enjoyed it. Puzzled though by how 19d parses (assuming I have the answer right of course). The "not back" bit seems strange.

I enjoyed that but have only just parsed 19D. Steve, it’s ankle bone except for two letters found now and then in “back”

I thought 23A was appallingly funny!
