Profoud apologies Geting - I have no idea how I missed it. On re-exammination I had left out rekals vote, Thank you for your gracious words. Apologies Geeker - mistyped 5 as 35 - still, could be as taken as another hidden? Perhaps I am suffering from late onset dyslxIa? A bit like the dyslexic devil-worshipper who sold his soul to Santa?

Paul, on the subject of devils, 21 across in tonight's Guardian Prize starts off with "Poodle", and the first thing that came to mind was the Pudel in Goethe's Faust, i.e. Mephisto. Which was of course irrelevant to the clue.

rekal@66: Thanks. I didn't check the ballots, but the vote seems to have been a draw. Commiserations to geting.

Geeker, Paul et al: Please let the result stand and congratulate Geeker on his fine clue - Holiday spot in Azores or Tahiti (6)

It was an innocent wee miscount (we've all done it) and Geeker was declared the winner. Geeker's clue also happened to receive likes, which my own did not.
I'm more than happy that such a lengthy effort as mine should have even reached the heady heights of second place
