If I’ve correctly identified the manner of entering the downs I’m left with far too may non-words in the acrosses. What is wanted in the title is 3,2,4 including an apostrophe. Am iI wrong?

Wrong title for the downs. Nice red herring, Ifor!

I enjoyed every minute of this and didn't even consider any red herrings! I thought the theme was handled very well, I had to work hard at times get the 'ways', and it was certainly worth it.

I believe the title for the downs consists of 7 letters in all

One could also justify:

3'1 6 2

or a different 3 2 2

but it's clear what is expected.

A nice balance in the weekend trio, with this being the counterweight to the gentler IQ. Ifor pulling no punches but rigorously following the four versions of the across entries and that of the downs. Another great puzzle from a master setter.

I should also have mentioned that the entry for 20 perfectly echoes what is appropriate from the relevant title in the sequence in which it appears. Genius!

May I please have help with 19 Across, “Instruction to turn in Listening devices”?

All I can come up with is “Taps” given the letters I have (S, A, T) but that would be a reversal, and there is already a reversal in its foursome. It must be an anagram….but I’m stumped.
