Stuck on three clues, it is driving me mad.
Any help or suggestions appreciated greatly.

2D Describes efforts, taking time (6) P ? R ? T ?

3D Common prayer given without protection (10)
C ? S ? E ? ? ? V ?
and

19D Add spice to eat outside ? (6) ? U ? L ? ?

2 D Paints, describes (I'll paint a picture for you, here's Big Al...) It could be Pains, efforts, ie once you remove the T, taking time.

3 D If your S is wrong - Collective, common. Collect is the prayer, the rest is g ive n, given(without protection, remove first and last letters).

Do all clues have definitions, or is there something special, different about this puzzle?

For 19 D,. I keep seeing Mullet, but it makes no sense! Mull = add spice to (wine) and Et is 'eat outside', the outside letters of the word.

19d… are you sure that is the full clue?

In which case the “shock” is on your head (well hopefully not!)
