I enjoyed this... Of course, once the line appeared then 13a was a write in which helped the top of the grid... :)

It's a shell used as currency...

The binary conversion is pretty simple really... E.g. 1 is 2 to the power of 0 = 1 and so on... So

E.g. a binary number of 101 is. Calculated as

1 * 2^0 +
0 * 2^1 +
1 * 2^2 =

1+0+4 = 5

Or you could google it 😂

Prospero - the long number that you mention is indeed the 1D way of stating the 6, 37.

Yes you are correct about the boxed up B - it is the middle letter of the 13 of 6,37.

The shell is a cowrie apparently.

Conversion to hexadecimal is trickier but suffice to say that hexadecimal system has "digits" fro 0 to 9 and A to E so in hexadecimal (16 characters) value of A is equal to decimal 10. Its a system used to condense very large integer numbers. Computer science heads would give more insight I'm sure.

Always knew this info would come in handy 😂😂

Where's the third blank square!? I've got one in row 5 and in row 8. What have I done wrong? Or is my printer playing up?

Only two blank squares (i.e. bars on all four sides) in the grid.
