The Endurance lies 9,869 feet under the icy Weddell Sea. It sank in 1915. Discovered in 2022, the frigid water and depth have kept her in near pristine condition ‘with nothing missing’ (including a pair of leather boots)!
Weirdly, the ship was discovered 100 years to the day that her captain and expedition leader, Ernest Shackleton, was buried.
