Chain letters

One of the down clues shouldn’t be there because its solution is a link in the chain. What’s up Doc?

Looks like 30 shouldn’t have been clued but 31 should have. On that basis I have a chain that works and wraps on itself, but I’d be happy to be proved wrong.

In other news I see my name is shown as the first prize winner of “3/4” puzzle! I’ve not been contacted so won’t be planning how to spend the £30 voucher just yet!

31d is in my chain – correctly unglued – so the puzzle doesn't need to be Doc-tored in the manner you suggest.

have everything except the last two unclued ... if I'm right that 20's last 3 become 15 down's first, and 16's last 3 become 17's first, so the last 3 of 17 become 20's first, I have a clash because the 2nd letter of 20 must be an A, while the 5th of 17 must be an O ...

thank you, mr codger - if 30 is in the chain (and therefore shouldn't be clued), it solves my problem outlined in a new thread - which should be deleted, please, Nora - seems Doc (the editor) himself needs an editor!

I think that’s the problem Prospero. It’s not possible to link 17 to 20 without the use of 30 (which is clued) inserted between them.

Half the fun of doing a Doc crossword is finding the mistake.

Jono - they won't notify you or, at least, they didn't me. After 6 weeks I emailed "Where's my voucher?" and received a qr code shortly after.
