Then a very odd one:
More expensive pair leaving less frosty (5)
Surely not "less" unless I'm missing something?

Your letters are correct. Take a common crossword insect out of a word for "unneeded".

Yes I had the very same problem with the second one

Like the other respondent I agree. I wonder what the compiler meant to use instead of "less" or was it possibly a typesetter mistake instead?
