I have a full grid and the thematic word to go under it. The problem is I only have 7 of the answers that are to be thematically modified. I trust that the one that I am missing is 1 across as I simply cannot parse ANY of the entry in my finished grid. Time to return to todays impossible Listener.

Yes, it does begin with I, i just don't see how my entry at 1a can be the answer to the clue, therefore 1a must be a thematically altered answer.

Yes, all the altered grid entries are (first word of right-hand shaded clue). SO 1a must be thematic. Answer to the clue is 3-letter bank + 3-letter angry with an I inserted.

Great crossword. I have a full grid and the eight thematics. But I don’t know the original answer for 19 down and I’m struggling to find the word to write under the grid. Can anyone help please

The original answer for 19 down is "prowl" and it's replaced by "snook".

At a glance, I didnt think the 4 shaded letters would form a word but they do and the definkition in Chambers explains its significance,

Very enjoyable puzzle and intriguing when obvious answers wouldn’t fit. All done except I’ve got the corrections for 22ac and 27ac but not the originals. It doesn’t really matter but could someone explain please.

Teenieleek, for 22, there's the usual abbreviation, then alternate letters (regularly) leading to a synonym for 'fit', verb..
