Thanks to all who took part in this weekâs Clueless challenge. Many excellent entries and very hard to judge.
I appreciated Darlaâs âlittle womanâ reference. âMarch womanâ appeared in the Spectator recently, on that occasion yielding Amy. I shall be on the look out for Jo and Beth.
Geting had me reaching for Collins in support of JD for juvenile delinquent, which I was pleased to find, though lacking in Chambers.
Geting @26 and Darla@39 were the best of the Spice Girls clues⊠you can share the prize. Geri Halliwell had a role at the UN which was a neat reference.
Paul@32âs âteachers petâ was good, though I think that the wordplay requires âteachersâ while the surface requires âteacherâsâ.
Of the Viz submissions, top marks to Aristo@36 and Motley@46.
My shortlist wasâŠ
Motley@7 neat subtractive anagram, not sure âbyâ is needed.
Amej@11 another subtractive anagram with an inventive surface.
Geting@18 the JD subtraction with a creative definition.
Paul@33 I liked that âgives a kickâ could be interpreted as both the football pass and the addition of spice, and in the surface as extra power/acceleration.
The winner is Amej@11âŠ
