Anthony, thanks for your parsing of Cisco, I'm sure that is right.

I don't really get definition of Period = Friday, like really?

24d Old man PA, in lock TRESS and SER, ie abbreviation of residence, or RES, turned over. And as is so common now, words doing double duties, so a TRESPASSER is someone 'turning over a residence'.

I agree, horrible crossword. Please can someone parse 1ac for me: “uncompromising doctor offered less breadth.” I assume the answer is “rigid” (uncompromising) but can’t see why.

It is rigid. To rig something (eg an experiment) is to doctor it, and it’s bid, as in offered, losing b (abbreviation of breadth, in Chambers)

Late to to this. I can't entirely agree that it is a horrible puzzle. Tougher than most Jumbos, granted, but eminently fair clues. I normally try to solve the Jumbo without any aids, but not this week!!
