You should use DuckDuckGo. Never have a problem with this site.

Thanks darla, but the problem was with Chrome itself, not Google. Anyway, with Brendan's help, I'm back to where I was.

Glad you got it fixed, but DuckDuckGo has a full browser. It’s what I’m using right now. Never get a pop-up ad.
