Second half of 22 is 'for one' as in 'eg'.

I can't see the wordplay for 18 - feel like I must be missing something obvious.

18: A standard abbreviation, an uncommon plural.

sh - the wordplay in 18 uses a rare plural for a word meaning "fool" or "idiot" with its final letter removed - thus "a lot of" - surrounding the standard abbreviation for "court".

Aah, it was the 'a lot of' to knock off the last letter I hadn't twigged. Ta

SH @12, that does mean a better word for "one" could have been used.

Well, I managed to get on the right wavelength for this one and learned a lot into the bargain. Thank you, Phidias.
I had everything else, including the second work but just couldn’t figure out the last letter in radial 12. Cue a bout of sound self-kicking when I finally saw the bleedin’ obvious!

That was the same one for me, too, Jack.

The two sentences in the preamble 'The other half ... cycled answer' were a bit convoluted. Something like this might have been clearer: 'In the other clues, the word play entered cyclically as clued in either direction, starting from any cell, will reveal the definition also entered cyclically in either direction starting from any cell.'

JA re 12 Not sure that you should kick yourself too hard. Some people might object to the first word of the clue. That was the last one that I understood in its entirety - so I blame Phidias. Rare for me to be so quick to solve a Listener, especially a circular. Must check that I haven't committed a blunder when I fill in the diagram in ink- one of my habits over the years!

I'm not sure what's wrong with the first word of clue 12.

I don't blame Phidias for any clue that took me a while. But perhaps your comment was tongue in cheek, Ratherago?

I agree that this was not as hard as most circular puzzles. Still, it's always good to learn something new, even if I have no desire to experience the work in Ring 6.
