Once again my access to the online crossword is behind a paywall on my Macbook Pro, but is freely available on my iPad. Anyone else hit this apparent contradiction?

I couldn't get on today without taking out a £1 trial subscription (I didn't).

I was just now able to access it free, no problem at all.
But that's the first time I've tried in about 2 weeks (iirc).
Yesterday and last week I solved on paper from the .pdf link jono supplied.

[Added] I think I signed up for a free Observer account some weeks ago (in case it helped with the crossword), but I've forgotten details.

More weird than ever for me today. It kept demanding the £1 subscription, then, when I tried a different browser, it said if you registered before last November (which I did), you'll have to set a new password (!?). I did that and logged back in. First couple of times it demanded the subscription again. Third time it didn't!

Hi

Through my library membership I can access Pressreader, and via this I can access the Observer online, including the New review supplement with the Everyman crossword.

Lots of libraries give free access to Pressreader, so it’s worth checking if yours does.

I'm inclined to give up trying. I do the Guardian Quiptic on Sundays any way.

I noticed I was still logged in from a few weeks ago.
I logged out (of the free account I created a few weeks ago) and then tried to access the puzzle again. It required me to log in, but upon doing so the puzzle came up straight away.
So still no problems.

Warden, or anyone else,
If I access Everyman through my library/Pressreader, can I use the interactive grid, or would I still have to print it out?

Hi Mattrom

You still need to print it out, so it’s not perfect, but it’s my preference as I get to see the other puzzles, and also read the articles
