I think I have all the clashes (22?) and have resolved them but how to "complete the two sets" ??

found 2 more clashes , so at least i can now see what needs to be done......

Clashes came thick and fast in the bottom half of the grid and the final changes were clear. Thank you to Stick Insect for an entertaining workout which must have been a real challenge to set.

A tour de force rom Stick Insect and great fun to solve.

Cracking puzzle - so far. Made good progress but bemused by two solutions in the SE quarter.

"Title snaps to retain reference" I have K**MIV but I'm thinking more than one clash is involved. If I get that then 34 across may fall!

Any hints please?

Reference is a three-letter abbreviation, inside an informal three-letter plural. You correctly surmise that most of your letters are clashes, bc
