One of Beeching`s closed Rail Lines was the Scarborough to Whitby route - it is now a cinder track - open for walkers/cyclists - it features the magnificent Larpool Viaduct ...

I was always annoyed that no-one told Ringo that the repetitive words in the text for the Thomas books were supposed to suggest train noises!

tyke - I've walked a bit of the Scarborough-Whitby disused railway near Hayburn Wyke, which we know quite well.
