One of those (for me) that was an easy grid-fill and now stumped on end game!
Would love a hint on finding the extra wordplay letters in 6d and 16d.
I have both answers.
6. Left ordinary meeting to sum up one who wades in (8)
16. Young animals in shows surrounding niece, oddly (7)

Both extra letters are the same vowel. Great fun and the confirmatory names - particularly the first two - raised a smile. Thanks to Vagans.

Could one of you please help me parse 10d? I have the answer which means a tube from my crossers, but the clue baffles me. Scuttle seen in exit in Tube (5)

Three letter “exit” (permanently!) around a three letter coal scuttle that has lost its first letter. The word for “scuttle”(which is confirmed by the BRB) is more commonly associated with building sites.

Thank you Jack that’s so helpful! I now have a full grid and weapons but am stuck again and wonder if some of my letters are wrong in the down clues. If I am right I have an elephant for the first of the 3 words. Am I wrong?

That's correct jogamel.
I've now seen the connection between the three names and the victim, but still can't find the weapon in the grid.

The victim pairs with each of the three names, giving three people; one real and two fictional I believe.
After the 'elephant' come two unusual surnames.

Imagine the elephant beside “an old mill by the stream”…….

Ok, got the victim, the broken weapon but where/what is the murderer’s house?
