Thanks SB. I didn't know that either, nor that TET means Vietnamese New Year. The words "made-to-fit" sprang to mine several times this week.

But there were a couple of clues that made us chuckle. We particularly liked 8d and 29a!

Glucagon, pancreatic enzyme (I assume). Gluon, hypothetical particle, with Cag(e), protective framework (most of = drop the last letter).

Yes, an obscure answer and half the clue was obscure too!

You have all probably heard of the pancreatic enzyme insulin. This has the effect of lowering blood sugar. Glucagon has the opposite effect, raising blood sugar levels.

i think Gluon was an answer on last night's University Challenge.

I really don't mind the odd obscurity, though I'm happier if it appears only in the clue or the answer, not both.
